European Shooting Championship | YEREVAN 2026

For the first time in its history, Armenia hosted the European Shooting Championship from February 27 to March 5, 2026.
Background Production assumed full responsibility for the organization and delivery of this unique, multifaceted, and large-scale sporting event. With a highly structured approach and exceptional professionalism, the company successfully managed both the visible and backstage processes — including complex logistical, organizational, operational, creative, and technical components — ensuring the smooth, secure, and high-quality execution of the championship.
The professional team at Background Production designed and built the tournament’s comprehensive creative and technical ecosystem. This included the staging solutions for the official opening ceremony, venue branding, as well as advanced lighting and sound systems, transforming the sports and concert halls into a modern, competitive arena aligned with international standards.
This championship was not only a significant sporting event; it also highlighted Armenia’s growing presence on the European sports map. The event further demonstrated the effectiveness of public–private partnership in successfully hosting and delivering major international competitions at the highest level, while strengthening confidence in future initiatives of similar scale.
The championship was also marked by the outstanding performance of the Armenian national team. Ranking 4th in the overall medal standings, Armenian athletes secured a total of 13 medals — 4 gold, 8 silver, and 1 bronze.
This historic event has become a solid starting point for Armenia’s new sporting achievements, strengthening international recognition and paving the way for future victories.

60th European Karate Senior Championships in Yerevan

From May 7 to 11, 2025, Armenia hosted the 60th European Karate Senior Championships for the first time in its history — marking a defining moment that set new standards in the country’s sporting, cultural, and organizational landscape.

More than just a major sporting event, the championship became a vital platform for strengthening Armenia’s international reputation. At the core of its planning and execution was Background Production, the company that served as the organizational engine behind the event.

Background Production not only developed the entire operational plan for the championship but also took great pride in leading the event’s branding and creative content strategy. This included the adaptation of all visual and narrative elements, as well as the design and organization of the ceremonial and artistic components of the opening ceremony, held at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex.

In addition, the company was responsible for executing a wide range of structural transformations within the sports venue, delivering comprehensive brand identity solutions, and ensuring full logistical and technical support for the successful staging of the entire tournament.

“Khazer” Armenian Music Awards 2025

On April 30, 2025, the inaugural “Khazer” Armenian Music Awards took place at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex, opening a new chapter in the history of Armenian music.

The evening was a celebration of creativity and talent, filled with vibrant performances and unforgettable moments.

The event brought together over 400 key figures from the Armenian and Diaspora music communities — including artists, composers, performers, producers, directors, musicians, stylists, visual artists, media professionals, and prominent cultural icons.

One of the evening’s highlights was the appearance of Kitt Wakeley — a renowned American composer, producer, two-time Grammy Award winner, and head of the Texas chapter of the Recording Academy. Internationally recognized for his work in symphonic rock and synth-electronic music, his presence added a special global dimension to the event.

The “Khazer” Awards were organized by Background Production, which managed every aspect of the event — from developing the creative concept and overseeing production to coordinating the red carpet, stage design, and full execution of the ceremony.

EBRD 2024 Annual Meeting And Business Forum

From May 14 to 16, Yerevan hosted the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD) annual meeting and business forum for the first time.
This significant event in Armenia’s financial sector gathered approximately 2,000 attendees, including representatives from high-ranking official delegations of 74 countries, international organizations, and private sector entities.
The business forum featured panel discussions and various networking events. This year’s sessions included nearly 200 speakers, attracting over 35,000 online viewers worldwide.

A notable highlight was the Opening Session of the Board of Governors held at the Opera House on May 15th. The session concluded with a film-performance showcasing the best of Armenian culture, followed by an interactive museum in Freedom Square exhibiting various aspects of Armenian culture such as carpetmaking, khachkar weaving, and winemaking, accompanied by Armenian music and dances.
The comprehensive organization of logistics, protocol, security, branding, venue design, technical support, and cultural components was handled by the ‘Background Production’ company.

“The hero of our times” awards 2023

The ceremony of awards “The Hero of our times” 2023, organized by “Background Production” and “Public relations and information center” of staff of Prime Minister of RA took place on the 24th of December at Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre.
“Public relations and information center” of staff of the Prime Minister of RA presented 13 awards.
The guests enjoyed the wonderful performance by dance ensemble “Berd”, Erik Karapetyan, Gevorg Hakobyan, National Academic Choir of Armenia, all accompanied by Symphonic Orchestra of Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre.

Official inauguration ceremony of the new mayor of Yerevan

Official inauguration ceremony of the new mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, took place on October 13th The responsibility of planning and executing the ceremony, both in terms of its artistic and protocol aspects, were delegated to the “Background Production” company.
The incorporation of elements of ancient city Urartu passed a unique and culturally significant touch to the area. For the first time in the history of Yerevan the mayor took his oath with his hand on the cuneiform record of the foundation of Erebouni -Yerevan dated 782 BC. The new mayor pledged to abide by the RA laws and constitution and to serve the benefit of Yerevan and its residents. The performance of the Anthem of Yerevan by the National State Academic choir, under the direction of National Hero of RA People’s Artist of USSR, recipient of State Prizes, Prof. Ohannes Tchekidjian, added a sense of grandeur to the occasion. The inclusion of the flag and symbol of Yerevan, along with the RA Law on Local Self-Government in the City of Yerevan and the symbolic chain, being brought to the hall accompanied by drummers, was a powerful and symbolic part of the inauguration ceremony. Guests were able to enjoy a buffet and classical music following the official inauguration ceremony. Such events provide an excellent opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the city’s leadership transition.

Jazz concert, dedicated to International Jazz Day

An amazing jazz concert that took place in the heart of the Yerevan, in Gafesjian Art Centre, on the 30th of April brought together all the jazz lovers. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as the audience eagerly awaited the performance of the jazz bands.
As the musicians took their positions on the stage, there was a real sense of excitement in the air. The bands consisted of exceptionally talented individuals.
The concert began with a soft, warm tune that set the tone for the evening. The smooth melodies of the saxophone, trumpet, drums accompanied by the delicate touch of the piano keys, played by Vahagn Hayrapetyan and “Katuner” band. Right after Vahagn Hayrapetyan the audience enjoyed the legendary Levon Malkhasyan.
Right after Armenian bands the stage was given to the foreign bands, like: Pianoforte quartet, Erik Truffaz and his band and wonderful performance of Dhafer Youssef and his oud.
The concert served as a evidence to the timeless magnetism of jazz music, its ability to transport and captivate, and the profound connection between musicians and listeners alike.
